- Penitentes Penitentes are these wacky things. They are completely awesome Snow Spikes! How they form? What happens is, when a layer of snow has been sitting there for a long time, the sun forms random dimples. Eventually, if the snow sits there for long enough, the dimples turn into spikes.
- My next topic is Ice circles. These may not seem as exciting, but they make up for it with rarity. These beauties are incredibly rare, and are created when ice breaks off against the side of a river bend, and rotates. As the piece of ice rotates, it grinds against the side of the river, forming the circle.
- Frozen methane bubbles These things look REALLY cool. When methane gets trapped under the ice, the bubbles form, but when the ice melts, you do NOT want to light a match out there. Methane is very flammable.
- Hair Ice This is INCREDIBLY wacky. Ice that actually feels furry. It is hair ice, and it is real. And awesome. It was discovered, in a way, by Geoff Gaynor. It actually looks, and feels Hairy! I do not know how it forms, but it looks awesome! I wish that we got some here in Springfield.
