Events in the Western MA and Northern CT Area September

Here are some event listings for the area.  All should take no less than an hour to get to. I am planning on doing one of these a month with events happening during that month.

The Big E

One of the area's finest attractions during this time of year is the Big E.  This year's attractions include the 1964-1965 World's Fair exhibits (looked interesting, though we didn't have time to go in), performances every weekend by artists no one has ever heard of, the Sensodyne Tooth Spa (why?), a cow butter sculpture, and two identical Ferris wheels, along with the more well known events, like the Creative Arts building, the Coliseum,  the Midway, farm animals, the ever lingering smell of the farm animals, and more fried food than you ever thought possible.  This year's Big E takes place from Sept. 12- 28 in its usual location in West Springfield.  Ticket prices are $15 for adults and $10 for children 6-12.

Steampunk Exhibits in Springfield

Steampunk has become such a trend, we now have museum exhibits.  Steampunk Springfield has exhibits in the Springfield Museums and the Springfield Armory.  In the George Walter Vincent Smith Art Museum, there is up on display "Humachines: Authors & Inventors who Changed the World, Now Transformed into the Machines They Imagined to Change the World Again"  and "Brassy Bridal: Steampunk Wedding".  In the Lyman and Merrie Museum of Springfield History, there is "50 Firsts: Springfield Inventions Reinvented".  In the Springfield Armory, there are steampunk weapons on display.  The museum exhibits close on Sept. 28, the armory closes on Sept. 24.  Ticket prices are free if a museum member or if you live in Springfield. Ticket prices are
Adult – $18
Seniors – $12
College Students with ID – $12
Children 3-17 – $9.50
Children 2 and Under – Free
