Nicholas and Alexandra were the rulers of an unhappy country. The Russians were starving, and they blamed the Romanovs. Why kill them, though? Why stain Russia with that blood?
Nicholas and Alexandra had five children: Olga, the eldest; Tatiana, the prettiest; Maria; Anastasia; and little Alexei.
Olga
Everybody
wondered who she was going to marry. She loved her family, and stayed true to her father, even through being imprisoned.
Tatiana
was the prettiest according to most, and she was her mother's favorite. She was very close to Olga.
Maria
Maria
was a less dainty girl, and she was very tall. She was a bit of a flirt. She was very strong, and could pick up her teachers.

Anastasia
was the most lively of the girls. She would be the one making faces at the guards and climbing trees. People thought of her like a little sister.
Alexei, or Alexis.
Alexei
was sick with hemophilia. He wanted to be a solider one day. He was loved by his family.
Do these sound like people who should be murdered? Or do they sound like lively people, who put on plays, helped in the Red Cross in the first World War? If they had not been killed, in 2 days, they would have been rescued. Instead, they all died. Even though Maria regained consciousness in the cart on the way to be buried, she was hit in the head. The cause of her death is unknown. There were myths for years that Anastasia escaped, or any of the sisters did, but people found two graves nearby. They have been DNA tested and everyone was killed. This sort of thing makes you wonder how the world would be different if they had lived.
