Quick Facts

Title: Eon: Dragoneye Reborn
Author: Alison Goodman
Genre: Fantasy
Age Range: Teen
This book is the first in a two book series

Plot

Twelve year-old Eon has been training for years to get the chance to be a Dragoneye apprentice, the human link to an energy dragon's power.  There's just one problem that could blow the plan up: Eon is actually a  sixteen year-old girl named Eona.  Eona disguised herself as a boy so she could become a Dragoneye, because women aren't allowed to become Dragoneyes.  To her surprise, she gets picked as a Dragoneye for the Mirror Dragon, who has been missing for 500 years.  Eona gets thrown into a power struggle between the dying emperor and another Dragoneye, who discovers her secret.

My Opinion

It's a very good book.  I like the descriptions of the sword-fighting scenes, they really helped me visualize the battles.  I also like how there's no/minimal romance in the book; most teen books put romance front and center.  I give it a 5/5. Can't wait to read the other book.
