Summary
Angela Katz-McNair has never felt like a girl, the gender she was given at birth. She knows she's a guy. Coming out as Grady, a guy, feels right to him, but he isn't prepared for the reactions he gets from everyone else. His family is upset/mortified and his best friend Eve won't even acknowledge he exists. When one of the kids in his TV Production class (Sebastian) asks Angela out to the school dance and Grady comes out to Sebastian, Sebastian tells him that the parrotfish can change gender (they change gender if needed for mating, and newly changed males are the alpha males). Grady learns throughout the book to stay true to himself and his gender.
