Who doesn't like the beauty of snow in the backyard before you wreck it with a snowball fight? Well, at the D'Amour Museum of Fine Arts (one of the museums in the Springfield Museum complex) is doing an exhibit form Oct. 28 - Jan. 4 about snow in Japanese prints and a whole lot of snowglobes. To quote the site: "This winter-themed exhibit celebrates the season and the Japanese tradition of contemplating the beauty in nature through over 30 prints from the Raymond Bidwell Collection of the D'Amour Museum, one of the largest collections of its kind in the world. In addition, the exhibit will feature 50-60 exquisite snowglobes from a private New England collection, including antique domes made by Atlas Toy company, travel souvenirs, holiday scenes, and popular culture-themed snowglobes manufactured in the United States, Paris, and Austria." Exhibit is free with museum admission.

Eric Carle Museum Special Exhibits
This is definitely an art themed month. At the Eric Carle museum there are four exhibits happening through November. Since there are four exhibits, I'll give an one sentence description. One, Harriet the Spy turns 50. Harriet the Spy illustrations galore. And you thought you could put up with the movie from the 90s. Two, The Art of Eric Carle: Re-imaged and Re-imagined. All the Eric Carle books you grew up with have new art, and this showcases the new and old art. Three, Once upon a time... An Exploration of Gustave Dore in the Modern Fairy Tale. This exhibit compares Dore's art and modern fairy tale illustrators to show Dore's influence on art. Four: Madeline at 75: The Art of Ludwig Bemelmans. A whole lot of Madeline art along with some of Bemelmans's art for children and adults. Exhibits free with museum admission.
