Owls
The owl is one of the most widely known and widely spread birds, with 224 species of owls world wide, living in all continents except for antarctica, and about 16 species in the U.S. They are carnivores and nocturnal, and are able to sneak up on their prey thanks to hooked feathers one their wings that keep their flying quiet. They have eye tubes instead of eyeballs, so they have to be able to turn their necks at weird angles, and have 270 degree vision. instead of ears, they have holes in their heads that are covered in feathers, and their whole face is made to direct sound to their ears. They have upright posture like a human, and three eyelids, one for eating, one for sleeping, and one for cleaning their eyes off. They will eat prey whole, later coughing out pellets that contain all the bones and fur. A group of owls is often called a parliament, a wisdom, or a study, as they are widely known as being wise. Owls are very rich in culture history, and are in many old paintings. They are one of the most revered and renowned birds.
