Interview with Yarri

Yarri, what classes do you take at co-op?

I take a history class, 2 art classes (drawing and watercolor), public speaking, journalism, and project management. I really like the drawing class.

Last year, your public speaking class was made up of your age group and the age group above you.  This year they have added the younger age group.  how do you feel about this?  Do you think that being in the same class as 6 and 7 year-olds is a positive thing for you?

I think that having the class with both older and younger kids is not a bad idea. The older kids can help the little kids if they don't understand something. How ever, the room will probably get seriously stuffy in the warmer months.
A new edition to the co-op this year is project management.  What do you do for your project?  Do you feel that an independent study time is good?  Would you rather that time period be made up of structured classes instead?

I do weaving for project management. I do think that it would be better if we did a normal class during that time block, like a science class, or another recess. 😊

You are also in journalism class this year.  Do you have any hopes for the newspaper?  Articles you'd like to write?  Do you have ideas for the yearbook?
I am not really sure what to think about journalism. It's my first time doing this and I am not quite sure what to write.  Though I do have a weird animal for next week....
As for the yearbook, that I think I'm okay at. It's alot easier for me to do visual stuff. And in case you were wondering, my cover idea is not very crazy. It is actually quite pretty...

In Journalism class there was the debate about whether the newspaper should be a paper copy or just on the blog.  Which side do you take?
I'm neutral. Personally, I think both are good ideas.

And finally, if you could change one thing about mulberry co-op, what would it be?
A science class and a second recess would be great.
