Description

The lowland streaked tenrec is a small animal with a long snout and limbs. It is active during the day and night. It feeds on earthworms and insects. Breeding takes place during October to December and the female gives birth to about 5 and 8 babies. Tenrecs live in long, shallow burrows which are usually filled with entire families. If threatened by a predator, it will erect quills on its back, chest, and head. It will then drive needles to the paws or nose. These creatures are even eaten like domestic cows. They even communicate with their quills.
