This book has it all. Magic glasses, dark oculators, British dinosaurs, and even the great kitten conspiracy!
Plot: Alcatraz has been a foster child all his life, and is about to turn thirteen. On his birthday, he receives his inheritance, which is (drum roll please) a bag of sand. The next day, a crazy old man comes who claims to be alcatraz's grandpa, and tells alcatraz that he is an Oculator (whatever that is) and alcatraz is immediately caught up in a whirlwind of adventure.
Stars: 5/5, especially as it is a quintet.
The age range is about 8+, but it is a very easy read.
