Video Game Secrets

  • Sonic the Hedgehog was originally supposed to have a human girlfriend named Madonna, who would follow Sonic around.
  • The games Pokemon Silver and Gold were supposed to be the last Pokemon games ever made.
  • Mega Man's Dr. Light and Dr. Wily's full names are Thomas Light and Albert Wily, based of the scientist Thomas Edison and Albert Eisenstein. Eisenstein made the formula for the atomic bomb which is why Dr. Wily is the villain.
  • The reason Mario has a cap and mustache is because his creator, Shigeru Miyamoto, wanted to avoid animating his hair and mouth. He thought it would be to difficult in such a small space.
  • We all know Mario as the red and blue plumber, but his colors were discreetly switched before the release of the Super Nintendo
  • Masahiro Sakurai, the director of Super Smash Bros. Brawl, hid a picture of his cat in the game.
  • According to Minecrafts creators, all the characters in the game are gender less.
  • In some of the first Mario games, all the clouds and bushes are the same, except for the color.
  • The opening title screen from The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is the same song as the Warp Whistle from Super Mario Bros. 3
  • In Pokemon Gold, Silver, and Crystal, having no Pokemon will result in an instant win.
  • The artwork for the sacred realm in A Link To The Past is actually Skyloft from Skyward Sword.
  • The reason Mega Man is blue is because of the color limitation of the NES. The color blue had the most hues.
  • The word Pikachu comes form the Japanese onomatopoeia's pikapika, which means sparkle sparkle. And chuchu, the Japanese sound for squeaking.
  • The characters for Super Smash Bros. Wii u and 3Ds were chosen at the start of development. This means the character Greninja, from Pokemon, was chosen before Pokemon X and Y were released.
