How to start your garden plot: phase 2

How to start your garden: Phase 2

So you’ve just learned how prepare your garden and how to seed your peas, so now it’s time to learn how to seed your spinach.

First step: choose a spot in your garden.

Second step: hoe the area again to loosen up the soil

Third step: rake the area smooth, first with the pointed side of the rake and then the smooth side.

Fourth step: option 1: scatter the spinach on the bed.  Make sure it’s evenly scattered, or in other words, that there isn’t a big clump of seeds in one corner and there’s almost no seeds in another.  Option 2: make neat rows of spinach seed with even spacing.

Fifth step: if you did option 1, spread soil over the seeds until they are all covered.  If you did option 2, cover the rows with a layer of soil.

Sixth step: nothing!  You’re done.  Make sure to water your seeds every day, unless, of course, it’s raining.

More to come as the growing season progresses!
