Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry- Mildred D. Taylor
Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry is one of my favorite books ever. Set in the south during the Great Depression, this book tells the story of a nine-year-old African-American girl named Cassie. The year 1933 is a hard one for Cassie’s family, the Logans. They face many challenges including various racist occurrences, the consequences of boycotting the Wallace Store, a store owned by unkind white people, and most importantly almost losing their land, the only thing that sets them apart from the other African-American share croppers. It is also a challenging year for Cassie especially. She faces many situations where she learns the truth about racism and prejudice and humiliation. I deeply recommend this book, it is very striking and moving, it tells the story of segregatedMississippi
