Extraterrestrial Life

Recently, I was at a lecture about the possibility of extraterrestrial intelligence. After this lecture, I decided to write this article. What chance is there that there is foreign intelligence in space?

For estimates, we have the Drake equation.

I put these numbers into a calculation site, and it came out with 10. Now, this may seem a big number, but this is over our entire galaxy, and the chances are against us. Over long distances, these intelligences would probably be watching us discover America, or possibly before we were even here, so it is extremely unlikely that we will ever communicate with one. Besides, it would take millions of years to communicate, because of the distance. Is it really worth millions of years to say "Hello?"
